Christopher Holland is a predoctoral fellow in the M.D./Ph.D. program at the Boston University School of Medicine, Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology. He is conducting his dissertation research in the Center for Neurological Imaging under the direction of Dr. Charles R. Guttmann. His research is focused on the spatial relationship of white matter signal abnormality (lesions) as detected by MRI to various intracranial architectures, e.g. cerebral vasculature or the ventricular system. He is also working to identify white matter foci of functional eloquence using statistical analysis to compute probablility maps that correlate to specific function or cognitive deficits. Chris is also working on the development of a database of clinical and image data through which complex, integrated analysis can be performed.
Chris graduated from the Boston College in 1999 with a B.S. in Biology. He then completed graduate coursework in Computer Science at the Harvard Extension School. During this period, Chris was working in clinical research at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA and as a medical database consultant. He is an avid sailor, racing locally in Boston and Marblehead, competing in long distance events such as the Marblehead-Halifax Race, and offshore passagemaking.
