Mehul graduated from the University of Mumbai, India in 2000 with a B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering. He received a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2002 and a Ph.D. in 2004 from the University of Texas – Austin. In his Masters thesis, he investigated the classification of M-FISH images. His doctoral dissertation focused on evidence based detection of spiculations in mammographic images.
