The first project in our animal MRI studies is to establish 3D MRI technique and protocol as a quantitative tool for the outcome measurement in preclinical trials of the various interventions on preventing or reversing animal model of disease, such as EAE (experimental acute encephalomielitis) of mice.

The second project is to develop an automated image segmentation pipeline for animal MRI. We are interested in segmenting gray matter, white matter, and CSF, and measure the change of brain volume due to aging in monkeys.

The collaborators in our animal MRI projects include Dr. Ron Killiany (Boston University), Dr. James A. Balschi (Department of Medicine, NMR Laboratory for Physiological Chemistry), and Dr. Tanuja Chitinis (Department of Neurology, CND).
